The 2026 Audi Q5 still wears a light bar

A full-width rear strip identifies the third-generation Q5 design. Configurable digital lighting is equipment- and market-dependent.

A light bar helps recognize the third-generation Audi Q5; it does not certify the year or the lighting package. Audi’s global reveal describes a three-dimensional rear strip that cuts across the vehicle’s width. The smooth tailgate surface around it makes that horizontal shape a strong visual cue.

The front belongs to the same design system: a high Singleframe grille, sculpted lamps and a substantial lower intake. Audi identifies this generation as its first SUV on the Premium Platform Combustion. That platform name distinguishes the architecture from the Q6 e-tron’s electric platform, but the grille does not reveal an individual engine specification.

The important equipment qualifier is in Audi’s own description: the available selection of digital light signatures depends on equipment. Its European release discusses Matrix LED and digital OLED technology; those statements cannot be applied wholesale to every U.S. Premium, Premium Plus or Prestige vehicle. A lit strip or a close-up of one corner is not evidence that all those functions are installed.
