The 2026 Corvette still puts the engine behind you

The 2026 Stingray still parks cab-forward. The 6.2 is behind the seats, so the hood is a lid and the hatch is the show.

The dash-to-axle is a stub. On the 2026 Corvette Stingray the glasshouse sits on top of the front axle, the lid in front of the windshield just long enough to hide a trunk, not a V8. Chevrolet put the 6.2 behind the seats in 2020 and left it there. From the sidewalk the hood is not the engine. The hatch is.

The face is a low point with the crossed flags on the tip and lamps swept into the fenders. A black splitter cuts the bumper. The holes under the lamps are for air, not cylinders. Z06 and ZR1 wear hungrier corners on the same basic mid-engine stamp. Stingray is the one that still looks like a road car that hid the motor. Do not read the mesh as a cylinder count.

What moved the cabin is the packaging. The LT2 6.2-liter V8 sits longitudinal behind the seats and drives the rear axle. Wheelbase is 107.2 inches. Overall length is 182.3. That is a short car with the mass in the middle, so the nose can duck and the rear deck can grow. Behind the doors, a black blade opens into the side intake. That hole feeds the engine you cannot see from the front. A front-engine Corvette needed a long hood. This one does not get one.

The tail signed the same paper. Flying buttresses frame a glass hatch over the engine cover. Dual-element lamps sit in a dark band. CORVETTE is stamped across the fascia. Quad tips live in the corners of the diffuser. 2026 redid the screens inside. The sheetmetal is still the C8 stamp. From thirty feet the short nose already named it. The hatch just showed you where the 6.2 went.
