The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 wears a boat roof

The roof does not duck. On the 2026 Ioniq 9 the glasshouse holds its height all the way aft, a long lid over three rows instead of a coupe fall that hides the last seat. Hyundai left the third row in the outline. That is the boat.

The face is a grid. A thin bar of squares rides the hood edge. Two vertical stacks sit in the corners — parametric pixels, the Ioniq family stamp, stretched across a three-row nose. The middle is a closed dark panel. Air goes under it. The H sits on the hood, not in a mouth. Rear-drive and dual-motor AWD share that lid. The fascia will not say which one.

The package is the length. Long wheelbase. A thick D-pillar with a silver blade. A quarter pane that still looks like a person could sit behind it. Flush handles. A belt that stays a crease. The sidewalk already knew this was a three-row stall. The roof just refused to apologize for it.

The flap on the rear-right quarter is the hardware tell. On the U.S. car that door hides a NACS inlet. The pack behind it is an 800-volt system — 10 to 80 in about twenty-four minutes on a 350 kW plug. You cannot see the voltage from the sidewalk. You can see the door.
