The 2026 Mustang still wears a long hood
The dash-to-axle is still a stretch. On the 2026 Mustang GT Fastback the glasshouse sits aft of a long lid, the cabin shoved back so the nose can hold a north-south 5.0. Ford did not shorten the pony. The hood is still that engine’s length.
The face is a black mesh with the pony in the hole and tri-bar lamps in the corners. A black extractor sits on the hood. EcoBoost still sells a 2.3 four-cylinder in this lineup under the same basic fascia. The sidewalk tell is the 5.0 stamp on the fender. Dark Horse is a hotter Coyote. GTD is another car. Do not read the grille as a cylinder count.
Ford rates the U.S. GT’s 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 at 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft on 93 octane. The block still points at the rear axle. S650 kept that layout into 2026, so the sheetmetal in front of the windshield stayed long. A transverse four would have given the stylists a shorter snout. They did not get one.
The tail agrees. GT on the lid. Quad tips in a black valence. A four-cylinder Mustang does not wear those pipes. From thirty feet the hood already named it. The tips just signed the same paper.
