The 2026 Nissan LEAF still wears stacked rectangular lamps

The new LEAF’s rectangular lights and 2-3 motif identify its design, while the center running lamp and lit emblem are available equipment.

The stacked rectangular elements belong to the new third-generation LEAF design. The word “still” in the title should not suggest that this is the previous hatchback with new lamps: Nissan’s U.S. 2026 press kit describes a completely reworked crossover body.

Its front graphic combines rectangular lighting elements with a black panel. The full-width running lamp and illuminated Nissan emblem are available features, not promises for every grade. A photograph with both illuminated therefore shows a configuration that needs a trim check. The corner graphic is the stronger family cue.

Nissan explains the repeated 2-3 pattern as two rectangles alongside three perpendicular ones, a reference to “ni-san” in Japanese. Its design story identifies the holographic rear lamps as the most obvious expression of that motif. This is deliberate branding, rather than a count of lamps that identifies battery capacity.

In profile, the motorized flush front handles and concealed rear handles in the C-pillar help distinguish this generation. The press kit also identifies the sloping rear window and liftgate spoiler. Use that combination to establish the body generation, then use the grade’s specifications to establish its center lamp, wheels and other equipment.
