Rivian R2: what the oval lamps identify
R2 is the shorter five-seat Rivian; Premium and Performance receive Dynamic Adventure Lighting in the current U.S. configuration list.
The R2 carries Rivian’s oval-lamp and lightbar theme on a shorter, five-seat body. This is a launch-design guide: the cited R2 source gives calendar availability dates rather than a verified U.S. model-year designation. Rivian’s current R2 specifications give a length of 185.9 inches and wheelbase of 115.6 inches, compared with 200.8 inches and 121.1 inches for R1S. The proportions and seating arrangement are more useful ways to distinguish the models than counting their oval lamps.
Lighting equipment still needs a configuration check. Rivian lists Dynamic Adventure Lighting, Matrix LED headlights and Adaptive High Beams for R2 Premium and Performance. That statement does not establish the same equipment on every planned R2 configuration. The current page lists Premium for late 2026 and qualifies its estimates and future options.
The Launch Package is another distinction: Rivian offers it with Performance for a limited time and identifies items such as the launch key fob and the option of Launch Green paint. A paint color or a pair of lit ovals cannot establish that a car has the package.
Use the configuration list to check equipment and planned timing for the exact version. A preview photograph can explain the design without proving that the photographed car is a delivered customer vehicle.
