The 2027 GMC Terrain still wears a C-shaped bezel

The 2027 GMC Terrain runs its grille from the headlamps to the fog lamps. GMC names a C-shaped bezel on the Black Edition. The finish is the trim split.

Bright metal leaves each headlamp, drops along the fascia, and wraps the lamp below it, with an upright grille sitting inside that loop. On the Elevation in the photograph, the letters in the grille are red.

GMC’s August 12, 2024 U.S. release of the next-generation Terrain names that arrangement: the grille connects the new headlamps to the lower fog lights and makes one front-end graphic. The model year on GMC’s U.S. Terrain page is 2027, and the 2026 model is the previous-year page. The 2027 page gives Elevation an upright grille and LED headlamps and taillamps, and it gives the body an overall length of 181 inches, the length in that 2024 release’s Elevation specification. The phrase “C-shaped surrounding bezel” is on the 2027 Elevation page, in the Black Edition list, beside a darkened grille, 19-inch gloss-black wheels, black mirror caps, black roof side rails, and black badging. The bezel in this frame is bright, so the loop in the photograph is the graphic from the 2024 release, and the darkening is what the Black Edition line specifies.

The file is a 2025 Elevation, taken February 11, 2025, and its description calls the car all-wheel drive. A photograph’s date is not the model year, and a 2025 Elevation is an earlier build of the graphic the 2027 pages describe.

The finish is where the trims split

The loop stays where the 2024 release put it, and the grille inside it is what changes from trim to trim.

The AT4 in that frame keeps a bright surround and fills it with a dark mesh, with red hooks at the bottom of the fascia and a dark roof. GMC’s 2027 AT4 page calls the grille a unique darkened grille and lists a lifted ride height with red front recovery hooks, a front skid plate with a steel underbody shield, and 17-inch dark machined wheels with all-terrain tires. The 2027 Terrain page puts LED fog lamps with the AT4 skid plate and the red hooks, and it lists a two-tone roof as available, in Sterling Metallic or Ebony Twilight Metallic, so a dark roof in a lot photograph does not name those paints. On the Elevation page, front LED fog lamps sit in Technology Package II, which means a lamp in the lower opening does not, by itself, establish that package. The photograph was taken October 16, 2025, at Earnhardt Buick GMC in Mesa, Arizona, and the file calls it a 2026 AT4. The red hooks are the AT4 line the 2027 page prints, and the C-shaped bezel wording stays on the Black Edition list.

Denali, photographed the same morning in the same lot, puts bright horizontal bars in the same loop and runs chrome along the side glass. The 2027 Terrain page calls that a signature Galvano chrome grille, with chrome accents on the side and rear. The 2027 Denali page lists animated headlamps and taillamps with that grille, 19-inch Midnight Silver wheels, an available 20-inch After Midnight set, and all-wheel drive. The 2027 AT4 page does not print the animation in its feature list. The 2024 release, which scheduled AT4 and Denali as 2026 models, had put animated headlamps and taillamps on both. A lamp that is simply switched on shows the lamp in that state, while the animation is a sequence the still frame does not run. The wheel in the photograph is a bright multi-spoke, and the page’s two diameters are not readable from the spokes.

What the loop leaves open

The tail is the same Elevation, taken the same minute, with a thin lamp across the tailgate and GMC letters on the hatch. The 2027 page calls Elevation’s lamps LED headlamps and taillamps, and the chrome on the rear is that page’s Denali description, while the animation is listed on the Denali page, so the tail in the photograph remains the Elevation.

Which axle is driven is written on the pages, separate from the lamp. The 2024 release said all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic were standard on Elevation at launch. The 2027 Elevation page says an eight-speed and available all-wheel drive, and it prints 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft for the 1.5-liter turbo, the same pair the AT4 and Denali pages print. EPA’s 2027 Terrain table lists three rows, each a 1.5-liter turbo and an eight-speed on regular gasoline: front-wheel drive at 25 city, 28 highway, and 26 combined; all-wheel drive at 24, 28, and 25; and an all-wheel-drive Denali/AT4 row at 24, 26, and 25. Denali and AT4 share a fuel-economy row and wear different grilles, so the loop does not pick the row, the edition, or the model year. The 2027 pages describe the graphic, and the photographs show a 2025 Elevation and two 2026 trims of it. The window sticker or the build record, not the grille loop, is what settles the edition, the drivetrain, and the model year.
